V. II..L..18 The Other Humanoid Races of the Midori City States

II.. L.. 18.. 4..3 Elf:

Elves are of average height, but more slender than men, they are not common. Most keep to their own cities among forests or mountain peaks. Elves are not mercantile in nature; very few have business sense.

An Elf character starts with ST 6, DX 10, and IQ 8, with 8 extra points distributed between these. Elves without armor or in cloth armor have a MA of 12; in leather they have a MA of 10. Other armor affects them as it does men. Elves recover from fatigue at the rate of one ST point every 10 minutes; and from injury at the rate of one ST point every four days. Elves are natural magic users.

Elves have nominal maximum ST of 21; if you wish your elven PC to have more than 21 ST you must pay triple the normal EXP rate. Elvish DX and IQ are not capped.

II.. L.. 18.. 4.. 4 Dwarves

Dwarves average less than 5 feet tall, but are very stocky and strong. They live in the same cities as men, but if possible underground.

Dwarves are short, stout, and ruddy. They tend toward premature grayness and baldness. Male Dwarves always wear full beards as a sign of their masculinity and suspect beardless males of other races of being wimps (or worse). The average height for a male Dwarf is Male: (4’8"), their average weight is 62 kg (136 lb).

Female Dwarves aren’t bearded. The average height for a female Dwarf is (4’5"), their average weight is 51 kg (113 lb).

A Dwarf character starts with ST 10, DX 6, IQ 8, and 8 points to add to any of these. Dwarves have a base MA of 10. They recover from fatigue at 1 ST point per 15 minutes; and from injury at the rate of one ST point every two days. The average life span for a dwarf is one hundred and fifty years. Dwarves fight well with hammers, maces, and axes, doing an extra +1 damage when they hit with any of these. They have a +2 DX when making things or dealing with mechanical objects. Dwarves can also carry immense loads. The maximum load for a Dwarf is DOUBLE that for a man of equal strength, this does not apply if they are swimming.

The minimum base attribute points for a Dwarf are ST 10, DX 6 and IQ 8 with 8 additional points to place as they wish.

Dwarves have a nominal maximum ST of 40; if you wish your dwarven PC to have more than 40 ST you must pay triple the normal EXP rate after reaching 40 ST. Dwarven DX and IQ are not capped.

II.. L.. 18.. 4.. 5 Goblins

II.. L.. 18.. 4.. 6 Hobgoblins

These are big, stupid goblins. They are often found in the service of "real" goblins. Hobgoblins are afraid of goblins, and will never attack them unless commanded to by other goblins.

Although bigger than goblins, they are smaller than most other races. They tend to be simple, brutal creatures, and do NOT keep their word as do Goblins, but do not lie more than any other race.

A Hobgoblin character starts with ST 6, DX 6, and IQ 6, with 8 extra points added anywhere. They have a base MA of 10. They recover from fatigue at 1 ST point per 15 minutes; and from injury at the rate of one ST point every two days. The average life span for a hobgoblin is forty years.

A hobgoblins ST is not capped. However if you wish your hobgoblin PC to have more than DX 14 or IQ 10 you must begin paying triple the normal EXP rate to exceed these limits. This does not apply to the initial 8 extra points provided. Hobgoblins have the potential to reach vast levels of strength, and do so as fast or faster than any other race, that few do so is due to their short lifespans. (Note: if you choose to play a Hobgoblin your best option is to place all 8 extra points into IQ; you can live with building to a DX 14 before paying triple EXP and their ST builds fast without any cap.) Hobgoblins are at a -1 reaction roll by all races except Goblins.
