Ibran Peninsula:

The Ibran peninsula is from 150 to 200 leagues across and is just north of the big shallows you crossed. The area gets lots of rain and snow in the winter but the other seasons are fairly dry. Many small rivers are seasonal, drying up once the mountain snow melt is gone. The most common agricultural disaster is a wide spread drought in the spring and summer. All large cities are on large rivers where irrigation is possible.

Much sea trade was between Ibra and Brajar. Since Roknar is at nearly a state of war with these heretic nations, much profitable piracy was done on ships sailing wide around Roknar. With Brajar at near collapse, this money is drying up.

Roknar

Roknar has the strongest fleet in the area by a large margin. The province of Jokona used to be part of Ibra. (However, lately Ibra has grown in strength and they would love to take it back.)

Roknar is in an on again off again war with the Quinterian heretics in Chalion. Brajar, and Ibra also worship the Quinterian heresy.

The Roknar people have ancient Forgehot blood in them and are generally a martial race. They should have done better in their wars, but bickering between provincial leaders has hindered their expansion. A couple generations ago, the 'Golden General' united the Roknari, and surely would have destroyed Chalion, but foul death magic of the Bastard murdered him. Since then, there has been no lasting peace, rather a long war with occasional 4 to 6 year breaks for the two sides to rebuild forces.

Towns Visited

  • Magery, Roknar, Oxxten: Small town destroyed by Forgehot raiders. Issta was rescued here. First town visited by the Slope Runner in Oxxten

  • Neeki, Jarn province, Roknar, Oxxten: Decent size town of 1500-2500 people. Expensive docking fees. Temples to all of the four. The brothers order here murdered Cynthia for trying to recover her stolen guns. There was a high end importer shop that had 2 warming gems and a number of town wizards.

  • Oraeto, Roknar, Oxxten: About 8 leagues inland from Neeki. Maemaj was head of the mother’s temple. Sargent Hemn is at the son’s temple. When we were returning from Chalion, the Roknari Army was coming through here

  • Almeda, Roknar, Oxxten: We stayed here after the Ogre fight in Chapter 4 while looking for the dragon and a way into Chalion. Angelina made a poor impression, but the rest of the group arrived with locals (who were both story tellers) to help. About 200 people live there

Chalion

One of the two strongest economies on the peninsula along with Ibra. The two were involved in a war a generation ago, and there is no love lost between them. (It is thought that Chalion is currently supporting the Son in the Ibra civil war.)

Towns Visited

  • Jinjar, Chalion, Oxxten: A small town with a lot of sheep herding, maybe 300-350 people but lots of buildings closed up when we were there. Priestess of the Bastard named Kallassa, a pleasant young women who explained the religion to use

  • Sheepton, Chalion, oxxten: A small town near Udejji

  • Udejji, Chalion, Oxxten: Decent sized town with brothel, temples, garrisons, etc. The party brought news of the pending Roknari invasion here which resulted in Chalion having time to muster forces. We met with a trader who was cousin to a man in Jinjar. He had goods to sell with a buyer on the other end, but we couldn’t afford them

  • Bremm, Chalion, Oxxten: Largest town we’d seen in Chalion at that point, probably 2000 people. Son’s order was suspicious of us, but after questioning just sort of passively watched us for trouble

  • Svemunderkwm, Chalion, Oxxten: Town we were travelling to when we ran into a fey that stole Vane. We met Jervis and Miguel near here. It was a small town being plagued by a mysterious monster that had people seemingly under some sort of spell. A divine of the father had been sent to investigate. We arrived and investigated the monster, chickened out and it escaped. When we came back the people were vegetative and we weren’t much liked. Nearby is a place called Lastfalls where there is a small wharf at the river, but no one lives there

  • Caskjatom, Chalion, oxxten: One day from Svemunderkwm via Lastfalls route. We got here as the Roknari Invasion was starting. Joined by Argunt and Gosel to escort away some priests of the Bastard to keep them safe

Brajar

Brajar has been hammered by the Forgehot raiders and is in near collapse. Large communities of Forgehot raiders have been established in the west, and raids now come at any time, not just during Pauses.

The Dutchy of Moorj is technically part of Brajar, but is so powerful it is virtually recognized as an independent nation. It has strong ties to Darthaca, and used to be an ally of Chalion. However the last Chalion ruler, trashed the alliance with a spectacularly inept betrayal, and mismanaged invasion.

Towns Visited

  • Tyrinnec, Brajar, Oxxten: Under Roknari occupation when we visited. About 10,000 people live here. City is split on two banks of the river with the poor mostly on one side. Good iron mines inland. Exports Salt, glassblowing, nice statues of the four (five if you ask around) gods. They make a good glue and lots of good pharmaceuticals. There is a noted finishing school and green-blue dye.

  • Nighencrag, Brajar, Oxxten: Town famed for its weapon’s smiths and Daraxus Wonder Clock. We sort of fixed the Wonder Clock and collected a reward, but then the guy we fixed it for was dead and the clock was probably broken again.

  • Limdoro, Brajar, oxxten: The ship stopped here while we were fleeing from the pirate fleet that followed us from Darthaca and contained the wood twisting priest. There was a serpent worshipping cult here. Smiles healed a military official of some importance who was on his death bed. He turned out to be S. Videllotte who is famous for fighting the Roknari and the Lictor was extremely pleased for his recovery

Ibra

Ibra is fighting a civil war (the son is trying to overthrow the Grey Fox, his father). One of the two strongest economies on the peninsula along with Chalion. The two were involved in a war a generation ago, and there is no love lost between them. (It is thought that Chalion is currently supporting the Son in the Ibra civil war.)

Towns Visited

  • Yodrorboe, Old Ibra, Oxxten: A large port town up river in Old Ibra. There is a ceremony for newly arrived ships involving lots of local entertainment, etc on the dock. The crew tosses coins for the entertainment. We found out that up river further (Too shallow for the Slope Runner) the local lord Don Carlo had had thing stolen from him and go up river
  • River-mouth-town, Old Ibra, Oxxten: There is a small town at the mouth of the river that leads to Yodrorboe and Delroe, didn’t find the name. Forgehot traders met us here and told us we’d broken the back of the fleet when we killed the wood twisting priest. Smiles threw a kid overboard who wanted to fight us over honor

  • Heehone, Old Ibra, Oxxten: Small port town we visited between Neeki and Old Ibra. It has ore and fishing as industries and sold dried seaweed snacks. Prices were high and tariffs were high. Short stop. The town sells both blue and a pink paint (the pink comes from seaweed juice). The blue is prettier, but the pink lasts much longer in the sun and weather.

  • Delroe, Old Ibra, Oxxten: A fort/town hybrid straddling the river a few days upriver from Yodrorboe. Don Carlo uses it as his seat of government. Used to be raided frequently before Don Carlo took over and built the fort. He’s nearly worshiped for his hero status by everyone down river of the fort. Kirivan joined us here, Buzz retired here

Darthaca

Darthaca is a large, sparsely populated land, perched on high terrain. It is noted for having several small communities in caves.

Towns Visited

  • Vanrorhemm, Darthaca, Oxxten: They don’t have jails…they have execution, enslavement and public whipping. The horse lords ruled here,it was our first introduction to them. The people are notably friendly. Nearby is a waterfall and the Twisted Temple of the Mad God, an elf temple full of evil that gives people long term curses.

  • Twisted Temple of the Mad God, Darthaca, Oxxten: A very complex puzzle just to open the door. Lots of evil inside, traps, monsters, etc. We almost got flushed down a toilet with eel monsters, fought flying bat eels, etc. We did get some decent loot and spell books. We sealed the place up when we left. Buzz joined us here, he was one of the locals who guided us to the temple but was adventurous enough to go in

  • Porortnth, Darthaca, Oxxten: A small city we tried to anchor, but the local authorities were jerks and were trying to greatly overtax/overcharge Slope Runner. We moved on

  • Nororich, Darthaca, Oxxten: Largest port in Darthaca, about 13-17k people. Also under the horse lords, nobility noted as being “Very touchy” there was a very nice gem magic shop here with very high security. We negotiated a deal with them for magic gems in exchange for the gem magic book from the elf temple. All trade had to be negotiated on a platform near the ship called “The Extra” for proper oversight/taxing. You’d get in big trouble taking stuff ashore to sell. Wild land with bandits nearby, authorities trying to get mercenaries together to clear it. Smiles and Issta befriend an older couple out of town.
  • Unnamed, Darthaca, Oxxten: Town of about 800 people where a man had a captured elf on display that you could throw things at or beat if you paid up.
  • Unnamed 2, The Chalk, Darthaca, Oxxten: Gosel and Jervis enter a bard competition and do well. Party is trying to find the shamaness to cure Angelina of Otter-ness

  • The Chalk, Darthaca, Oxxten: A large raised area of land with heavy amounts of chalk in the exposed rock face. Quintror is a young horse lord there who liked the party and wanted to hear of our adventures. We found the Shamaness Merorra here who cured Angelina of Otterness

  • Taboltror, The Chalk, Darthaca, Oxxten: A small town near Taboltror’s manner. The manner is a cross between a castle and large manor home. The party performed and did day labor here trying to get access to steal Angelina a pure white hair to help remove her curse.

  • Pluthrack Viathothihiss' Inn of Surpassing Quality With Low Prices, Just off the Chalk, Darthaca, Oxxten: Also called “The Lizard Lounge” this is a very nice, professional inn with spa services, good food, etc. Argunt made friendly with the lizards. There was a temple of Jizzo in a nearby town, and by temple we mean some guys house
  • BLOOD MAGE TOWN, Darthaca, Oxxten: Town we were passing on the way back from the adventure. It was under attack by blood mages. Gosel died exposing the blood mages hiding place. Party was arrested, but later freed after a truth rite confirmed we didn’t cause the attack and were trying to help. Luna joined the party here
  • Feud Town, Chalk, Darthaca, Oxxten:Small town on the chalk where a feud has been going on for years. Jizzo appeared to Smiles in a vision, but we ultimately elected not to investigate as we believed the ship’s departure was inevitable

Failed Kingdoms

A number of kingdoms have failed do to mismanagement and elf / moon beings pressure. Some Thellonican communities are strong in these areas.

Fallen Nerlmjem

Fallen Nerlmjem used to be a large empire; this is the remaining core. Its economy has imploded and it is basically a number of small towns running at subsistence level with constant warfare by the hundreds of petty nobles.

The Uneasy Sea

The Archipelago

A system of one large island (The Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts) and lots of smaller islands that lies in the uneasy sea, south, across slope of Oxxten. Overall politics is that the largest island tries periodically to conquer the smaller islands who will unite to defend themselves but otherwise mostly squabble amongst themselves.

Oxx

First island visited in the Archipelago. It had a lot of rules that you had to follow to avoid “Severe Punishments”. Mostly enforced by “water men” who fight fires…and such. Turns out they’ve had various gods/conquests/etc over the years resulting in a lot of rules of politeness to avoid fighting.

  • Agiol, Oxx, Archipelago: Seph got a parrot here. Seph and Jervis found a broken Tide Scribe (a tide predicting device). It wasn’t actually broken, just misconfigured. Big reward if fixed. Quality of goods is high here, prices are also a bit high on most things. Arturo joined the party here.

Porrketos

While in Agiol Mort’s prayer group all heard the words “Visit the worshippers on Porrketos” and believed others said them. Either it’s a prank or Earwinshwail wants us to go to Porrketos, jury is out

Trade Ossnay

Only island where one can trade with the Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts

Hommabigos

An island famous for its warriors and naval tactics. They often lead the defense of the islands against the Dominion

Xerttos

Island where the ship dropped off refugees from Ash. On arrival there was a "slave revolt" in progress. They weren't slaves technically, they were indentured servants. But apparently that was very slave like status on the island. The local tyrant was working to change the law to force the indentured servants to remain servants longer.

Ash

An island with an active volcano. When the ship arrived it was erupting badly and many people were dead and most remaining had ash sickness of the lungs. The ship spent a few weeks evacuating people to other islands.

The Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts

The largest island founded by a Paladin with a religion of good thoughts. They possibly use telepathy and magic to enforce this. They don't allow trade except through Trade Ossnay?. They more than once have tried to conquer the other islands.

Mistane-Biegalos

Island with active volcanoes. There is dispute about the name. Calling the Island Mistane is fairer, historically, but those who want to call it Biegalos are militarily and economically stronger, so if you want to do business with the island, you need to use the new name for the most part. If you play ball with the name, the government is easy to deal with. There are great mechanical parts and tools available. There is also a master bowyer who makes super fine composite bows costing up to 30x normal cost. The island has a strong military and compulsory military service.

Popt

Ship first arrived in some leadership sex scandal where we were advised to just play along. There is religious strife mostly between the Coltreen and Quadrene faiths which escalated to the point of assault on children and the government planning to suspend laws preventing the use of telepathy during investigations. They have a problem with Mermen who used to be good trading partners and are looking for adventurers who can go under water. They also have a magic school.

Pastfals

Their main city of Ortellies is set up to make repairs and outfitting of ships as painless as possible. They have complete dry docks, and can quickly and cheaply replace rotting planks at the bottom of the hull. Every-thing that a Captain might need for their ship can be found here, including “Blessed Charts” of every island in the Archipelago.

They are almost independent in their wood needs. Large ‘plantations’ are high on the volcano’s slopes. Illegal tree cutting in these areas is strictly policed. That said, they buy timber from Fallen Nerimjem and the Forest States. They have some of the nicest navigation tools you have ever seen. However, these don’t come cheap. They are noted for their ship building, and several sea battles against the Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts have been won with ships built here. This island has a strong navy, and wrong doers are often sentenced to a few years as crew on these ships. The criminals gain skills and discipline.

Mount Pulosous has a holy temple on it with holy seers. People who climb the 10,000 steps (actually you are told it is closer to 8,500), and brave the hall of blood (some sort of fighting thru beasts / monsters) can ask for knowledge of the future.

Gifeth says that some of the smaller towns on this island are known for buying and selling goods with no questions asked. You can buy anything in such places if your money is good.

The Pasha of the Island rules with the guidance of the 12 Wise Advisors. Gossip has it that Nikkios (the ’smallest of the 12’) is the dominant personality and is actually running the island. Others say, that Nikkios is a statesman who’s head is always buried in reports and ledgers, and makes up for the sloth of most of the other 12. The Pasha is far more concerned with playing with his navy to administer the island.

Trade Ossney

An island with some kind of formal relationship with the Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts. The Ney Dominion will only trade with outsiders through Trade Ossney, they also comprised part of the delegation representing the Ney Dominion Interests during the Purple Apple Fruit Negotiations

Sisstom Island

Sisstom Island is a place of sun worshippers famous for their mirrors. They have magical rites where hundreds of mirrors reflect sunlight into tall temples and create unlikely books of dark glass. They fought a long war 56 years ago with the Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts and ever since been hostile to visitors. Crew are advised to stay on the ship, and do all trade thru the noble factors (who take most the profit). It is not illegal to kill visitors for any reason.

Principalities of Towers

Upslope of Sisstom is the Principalities of Towers. Mystics who won’t trade unless a long time is spent in purification rites and over elaborate social introduction customs. However, they have exotic goods salvaged from inland ruins destroyed in the Elf and Dragon incursions.

Vieclumph

Home to the Kingdom of Farthrun, Vieclumph is a volcanic island near Trade Ossney. This Dwarven Kingdom led by King Darthreng is a major trading partner of the wild kingdom of Xal'Thal. During the Purple Apple Fruit Negotiations, Farthrun hosted the negotiations. The Dwarven metal workers here are famed armor workers.

Near the center of Vieclumph is a large volcano where wild magic has resulted in the wild formation of fire elementals of various sizes. The mountain is also a natural source of Firebloom, a flower that grows in still warm but cooling magma flows. Master Physickers with herbalism or chemists can use Firebloom to make a medicine which cures many cardio-vascular diseases.

Rondole

The kingdom of Xal'Thal exists on the island of Rondole, the furthest north island of the Archipelago. It's far enough north that wild magic is weak but prevalent and small populations of low purity dark elves live in the forests and sometimes even in the cities if they can control themselves well enough. The princess Khala was a dwarf with some elvish blood from this island who married Lord Balek, kin of Scriallig, from the kingdom of Farthrun. During Purple Apple Fruit Negotiations it was discovered that this island could grow a slightly weaker version of the famed Purple Apple Fruit. However, it required materials from The Ney Dominion of Good Thoughts and trade cooperation with Farthrun. The negotiations collapsed after the attempted assassination of Khala by the Ney Dominion employed agents. A new source of supplies will be necessary to grow the fruit in any industrial quantities.

Mystic Island

The Mystic Island, not to be confused with the isle of the same name south of Oxxten in the open ocean, is a small island in the Uneasy Sea east of Oxxten. The Mystic Island is ruled by a vampire goddess, although the rumors are that she is "nice" and only preys on her own people.

Gold Islands

The gold islands, are famous for their gold mines, and the violence of various war lords who wish to control the local city states. They trade gold for weapons, and luxuries for their nobility.

Vermiss Island

Vermiss Island is a cursed land of mountains and people / animal hybrids. Many magical goods in the small island hamlets, but very dangerous to venture on the island. Magic is twisted and unpredictable.

Via

Via is the home of the exotic nobility of an Oxxten culture wiped out by an undead army a hundred years ago. They fled across an ice bridge that formed somehow and then melted as the pursuing undead army followed. It is said that the shallows NW of the island are home of oversized undead sea monsters. The locals hate undead, and sell holy charms to fight such beings.
